Running away from the rain!

At the end of June and thoroughly fed up with the rain we had two weeks away again.
First stop was Barrow upon Soar to visit Rex's brother Mark and his family.
Next we headed south to have a Gaslow LPG system fitted at CMR. That accomplished we went to The New Forest. Neither of us had been there before so we thought we could explore it.

Well it had rained a lot when we arrived at the campsite near Brockenhurst but we found a fairly dry pitch and settled down for the night. Very heavy rain during the night and we woke to find ourselves almost surrounded by a moat!

We moved to a drier pitch and the heavens opened again - within minutes we had another moat!

That was the time for a re-think - not the right time to explore the New Forest obviously!

We drove west and arrived in Charmouth, Dorset. The main priority when looking for a campsite was that it had to have hardstanding! We found one in the village which was a short walk from the fossil hunting beach and also near a bus stop.

Had a day in Lyme Regis and another day in Weymouth - all done by bus - great fun!

Weymouth
We travelled back to Glossop via Bourton on the Water and Stoke on Trent.

First trip out.

At the end of May we ventured out for 2 weeks.

The main reason for the trip was to catch up with family in Devon and Cornwall.
First stop was Cornwall - St Austell. We arrived on Friday and by Saturday afternoon Rex was in The Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro with kidney stones!
After excellent treatment and managing to pass the stone he was allowed out on Monday.

On Tuesday we moved to Pentewan Sands for a night before going to St Newlyn East.

While we were in St Newlyn East we went to Newquay to see the Operatic Society perform songs from the shows on Killacourt.
We left the Newquay area and headed north to Bude staying at Bude Meadows Camp Site.

From Bude we moved up to Bideford and discovered Northam Burrows - great place to while away a day - situated between Appledore and Westward Ho!
Looking towards Westward Ho!

We visited family in Bideford then headed east.
We next camped at Blandford Forum then visited the Royal Signals Museum.
Rex got very nostalgic about 432's!

A night at the Camping and Caravanning Club Site at Oxford then we headed to Bedfordshire for a Motorhome Facts Meet at Top End Farm, Little Staughton.

What a great weekend that was!

Made lots of new friends and really felt that we'd started our new life as Fulltimers in a Motorhome.

Monday saw us headed back to Glossop.

Windy Harbour Farm Hotel, Glossop

7th May 2007 - We moved the van to Windy Harbour campsite and joined Eric the Guanaco and the 4 hens!

We soon made friends with them!

We're using this as our home site and will be returning to it whenever we're in the area.
